Your Nervous System: The Foundation of True Security
Your nervous system is the command center for your health, emotions, and energy. It regulates your stress levels, emotional responses, and sense of well-being—determining whether you feel safe and stable or anxious and reactive.
There are different branches and sub-branches of the nervous system, which I cover in depth in my micro masterclass— WATCH IT HERE.
But essentially, it operates through these two primary branches, both of which are connected to the heart. Any shift in either branch directly impacts your nervous system—for better or worse.
Nervous System Overview:
Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight-or-Flight Mode)
👉 Activated when we perceive a threat or stressor.
👉 Increases heart rate, muscle tension, and hyper alertness—preparing us to fight or flee.
👉 Useful for short-term survival, but damaging when chronically activated.
Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest-and-Digest Mode)
👉 Activated when we feel safe, calm, and connected.
👉 Slows heart rate, reduces stress hormones, and promotes healing.
👉 Allows us to think clearly, engage in meaningful relationships, and make wise decisions.
When chronic stress, fear, or uncertainty keeps us stuck in fight-or-flight mode, we feel anxious, reactive, overwhelmed, and our health is compromised. But when we learn to regulate our nervous system, we can shift into a state of clarity, resilience, confidence, and well-being.
